Meet Lucy!!!

So... my son's friend decided to let his two hamsters "play" together. Surprise surprise, a few weeks later, along came a litter of baby hamsters. Being an animal lover, and a total softee, I was (easily) talked into taking a four week old baby home last week. So far, this "free" hamster has cost me at least $100.00. First we bought the "critter trail" cage - the plastic kind with the bars, tubes and all kinds of fun add ons... what a mistake! Trying to clean it was a nightmare - it kept breaking every time I touched it, and you just cant get the insides of those tubes very clean! Also, the dog has been keeping very close watch on the cage, so I've been afraid to leave it unattended for fear that we would return to a scene out of CSI. So, it was back to the pet store today for a heavy glass aquarium and new accessories... easier to clean, and the dog cant knock it over and make a snack of poor Lucy. Anyway, after a full week with her I can say its all worth it in the end... Matty and I are totally smitten with our new addition to the family!

Amazing Grace... {New Jersey Senior Photographer}

OH*MY*GOODNESS. I recently blogged a casting call for a girl with a pretty dress to model for me while I tried some new ideas. Wow did I get lucky when Grace answered the call! She's beautiful, and arrived for her shoot in the most stunning dress - exactly what I had in mind when I put out the casting call. Here are just a few images from our shoot today...

Grace I hope you had half as much fun as I did today! I will have LOTS more for you shortly, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

A trip to the Orchard {Monmouth County New Jersey Children's Photographer}

Ugh. The weather has been so awful lately... its like living in Seattle (or Forks for us Twilight fans). We took a ride to Delicious Orchards today (for those of you out of the area, its a wonderful fruit/vegetable market) and I snuck my camera into the car hoping to snag a few pics of Matthew while we were there. The weather of course would not cooperate. No sun... just ugly grey skies. So, we made the best of it, and Matt actually cooperated for about two minutes.

As we were leaving, the weather got even worse, but I saw this farm and just had to try it out as a backdrop... I managed to shoot two frames when the skies opened up and we had to make a dash for the car. Oh well... I'll have to try this again on a nicer day!

Little Boy Bits {Monmouth County Childrens Photographer}

Yup... no dolls in my house... its all about action figures, cars, guns, dinosaurs... though pretty soon these now favorite things will be outgrown, cast away and forgotten. Another reason to photograph the little bits and pieces of my boys lives... before they are grown and all of the things they once loved dearly are forgotten. Here are just a few of the indicators that a little boy lives in my house...

Dont forget to photograph the bits and pieces of your lives! D.

Casting Call!!! {Ocean County Photographer}

Hey all... I've got some ideas I want to try out... I need a pretty girl - 18 or older, with a pretty dress or gown, who is willing to spend a few hours humoring me while we shoot in a bunch of different (very public - so you cant be shy!) locations. Note: Your dress may get dirty... so you need to be willing to accept that consequence! In return for humoring the photographer and possibly messing up your dress, you will receive the session absolutely FREE - yes FREE... and an 8x10 of your favorite shot. Sounds good right? But you'll also get 25% off any additional prints. How's that for a deal? So, if you're interested, shoot me an email at denise@denisesnyderphotography.com!

EDITED 9/6/09: I FOUND MY MODEL... THANK YOU EVERYONE!
