I am honored...

I've just learned that another one of my portraits has been chosen a Kodak Picture of the Day, to be displayed on the big Kodak screen in the heart of Times Square all day on March 27th. I had my very first one this past January, but was unable to be there to see it because my youngest son, the subject of that portrait, was sick. We watched that one together on earthcam.com. This time, I am determined to make it into the city to see it. The portrait chosen by Kodak is of my older son, and was taken by me next to a large window while I was testing a new lens.

Here it is: "Green"

Feeling artsy today

I have been inspired lately by my good friend Candy Avera of Picture Perfect Photography out of Auburn Alabama (see link to her site at right) to spend some quality time with my Lensbaby 2.0. Candy seriously ROCKS her lensbaby, but I've struggled to focus mine. This little lens is focused by using your fingers to manipulate the lens in and out and side to side. No autofocus on this baby! They say it takes lots of practice. Soooooo, I went out today in search of something to practice on and headed to a favorite little spot in town, Windward Beach. Its pretty desolate this time of year, but there were a few souls braving the cold! All in all, I got a few good images... but I definitely need to keep working with it, but I'm improving! These pics were taken with the lensbaby, and enhanced with texture overlays in photoshop.

NEW! Metallic Trios

The pictures, unfortunately, just dont do these justice. The metallic trio is a set of three images, in a combination of 5x5 and 5x7 sizes, printed on metallic paper that adds dimension and a beautiful sheen to your images. They are mounted on a hard board and come with little easels for display - no need for framing! Gotta love that! I am absolutely in love with these!

Diversity...

I was inspired by a photo contest site, http://www.betterphoto.com/, to work up this image that I had taken months ago while in New York with my fabulous photographer girlfriends. The monthly theme for February is "diversity", and I remembered taking this image and thought it ironic - the handsome cab on the city street under the Mercedes Benz advertisement... "sit in traffic and smile". This guy wasnt having any traffic issues! Anyway... I felt like really playing and added some texture effects. I'm very happy with the results... lets see what Betterphoto thinks of it!

Happy Birthday Kathy!

Today is my little sister's birthday... I wont tell you her age because then I'd be giving away mine! LOL! Not the greatest picture of her, but its what I have on my hard drive right now. Have a wonderful day Kat!

Sugar Rush!

Oh boy I had a terrible sweet tooth today... I was shopping at our local Target store and came across this wonderful sugary sweet that was a favorite of mine when I was a kid - Circus Peanuts! Do you remember them? Anyway I just HAD to have them - LOL! I was playing around with my lensbaby, and thought I'd share my sweet craving with you all! Have a great day!

Snow Day!!!!

A few weeks ago we were taking pictures on the beach because the weather has been so warm... today, near the END of FEBRUARY we finally got our first real snowfall! The kids had a "snow day" from school and couldnt wait to get out to play in it - they've been waiting all winter!

Even Dad got in on the act!!!

Nope - that's not roadkill - just one exhausted boy!

Daydreams

They grow up fast, dont they??? My son got a haircut the other day and I suddenly noticed how much his face had matured, seemingly overnight! I wanted a portrait to reflect his "new" maturity, and this is what came to mind. Well, the maturity apparently isn't only in his face, because not only was he willing to pose, but he really got into it! This was a super simple set up - just natural light coming in through the door! The wall texture was actually added in photoshop to give a little interest to my otherwise blah wall!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Will summer ever get here?

I am so sick of this dreary awful winter weather! I am ready... so very ready... for summer. I want to hang out outdoors, feel the sun on my face... I want to go to the beach, I want it to be light out after dinner, I want to send the kids outside to play! Cabin fever has set in and I am just ready for this winter to be over. Here's a pic that at least "feels" like summer... if you're feeling like me maybe this will help you think thoughts of summer... glorious summer!

Unconditional Love...

Sometimes one picture is worth a thousand words... this one speaks volumes about the relationship between these two. This bully is the apple of her eye, and I think you can see that the feeling is quite mutual. I am honored to have had the chance to try to capture that special bond.
