A self portrait...

Yes, that's me... only better! Trying out some new editing techniques, and used lots of airbrushing - LOL! As a photographer, my home is filled with pictures of my family, and I am conspicuously missing. Also, I figured when I died, I wanted a nice picture on my casket, not some awful snapshot. (and dont all the great artists do a self portrait at some point? LOL!) So here it is... me!

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

I just found out I have been accepted as an affiliate photographer for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. This organization does some amazing work bringing free photograpy services to families who experience the loss of an infant. Photographers volunteer their time and talent to provide these families with only portraits they will have of their precious child. I am honored to have been accepted into this organization. It will be extremely difficult, but also very rewarding work. Please click on the link at the bottom of my blog to learn more about this wonderful organization.

Another Winner!

Wow! My second winner this week on Shutterbugs.biz! This one was selected Photo of the Day in the People catagory!

I took this shot of my older son yesterday, and it just took my breath away. I loved the way the light was shining from behind him lighting his hair up...

Senior Portraits

Its that time of year... I'm doing some senior portraits and have discovered that I LOVE photographing teenagers. They're so much fun to hang out with! Here are a few favorites from my two most recent sessions...

This is Kyle ... such a great looking guy and a natural in front of the camera!

... and this is Holly. She's soooo beautiful and photogenic.

A word of thanks...

I want to thank my very good "secrets" friends... you know who you are... for all of your help and your constant encouragement. Without you I would not be where I am today with my photography, and I certainly would not have started this little business of mine so quickly without your guidance. I have learned so much from all of you and I treasure your friendship!

Huge thanks to my husband Rick for his support and encouragement - I hope I dont let you down - and my boys, Nicholas and Matthew, for your patience with me as I constantly point my camera in your face! Okay, maybe not so patient... but dont worry, Mommy will pay for your phototherapy.

Real People. Real Life

Welcome to my photo blog! I have been involved in the arts in one form or another since childhood, and finally found my passion when I discovered digital photography. I studied with the New York Institute of Photography, and am slowly launching a portrait business. My goal is to take portraits that reveal something about the person being photographed... a glimpse into someone's soul. I like to make the process fun - no stiff posing, just real expression and emotion. I am an "on location" photographer - all portraits are made at the location of your choice. Some popular choices include parks and beaches, but fun portraits can also be made in the most unusual places. Some fun choices include alleyways, graffiti covered walls, and brick or stone buildings. I love to use natural light whenever possible, but I also use studio strobes indoors under certain circumstances. Family portraits are casual and relaxed, with no stiff posing. My goal is to capture your family's natural interaction, so I encourage you to just have fun together while I capture the moments! Please contact me and I will be happy to send you more information and my price list.
